A red rose is the universal symbol of love. Red roses are the definitive sign of romance and enduring passion. They convey respect and the inspired spirit of true love.
Dead roses on the other hand, are not the sort of gift you should want to receive. Dead Roses signify great sadness or that something (a heart) is broken or possibly indicating the end of a relationship.
After thirty years together, it must have been a huge surprise when she left him dead roses.

They met at a nightclub in a county town,
In a year they were married and thinking of settling down.
They bought a house and made it their own,
With two cats, they called it their home,
And every Friday night he bought his wife red roses.

After five years together they raised a family,
Although money was tight, they managed happily.
But when his day-job took him away;
She felt cheated, people would say,
“That the life they had was hardly a bed of roses”.

Life’s a roll-a-coaster, its one heck of a ride.

After twenty-five years the kids had all left home,
After twenty-five years they had time of their own.
But when they took his day-job away,

She took-off with his friend and left him tending the roses.
