Dining out alone is no longer a worry for me. I’m comfortable with myself, ordering a meal that suits me and my mood. I find it quite liberating.
It is also a good time to do a bit of people watching. Of course I am being watched too, and for all the right reasons by a caring front-of-house team.
But occasionally I wonder what they must think of me? Who is that guy? Why is he alone? Where will he be going after he finished his meal?
Dining alone it seems can often ignite some interesting assumptions.

Quietly on her own, at a table in the bay,
A window view upon the world
And not a word to say.
A table set for one, watching for a while,
Seafood fresh on a salad base,
She orders with a smile.

Is she a famous actor?
A scientist or benefactor,
With secrets to disclose?
Writer or police detective,
Note book with imperfective
Messy shorthand prose?
No one may ever know......

She’s company to herself, pours water in a glass;
She looks up from a book she reads,
And lets the moment pass.
A table set for one, the lonely diner stands,

Her number in my hand.

Make the call, get the answer
Lonely diner is a dancer
See her after the show.
But there's a complication,
A secret assignation,
No one should ever know......
Nobody must ever know......
Oh no...........
